San Diego: Gay Bars Receive Death Threat Manifesto If They Don’t Shut Down

Several gay bars in San Diego have received handwritten, 15-page manifestos declaring they will face “bad luck, bad karma, injuries, accidents, car accidents, and worse, death.” Eddie Reynoso, manager at Baja Betty’s in Hillcrest, one of the venues that received the threatening screed, believes its backlash in light of the advances the LGBT community has made. “It’s a definite reflection of the current progress toward equality. [But] it’s not going to distract us from our momentum,” says Beynoso. “In fact, it’s going to make us celebrate even more.”

Police are investigating the letters, which came with a fictitious L.A. return address.
