At the White House Pride Month Celebration this afternoon in the East Room, President Barack Obama announced a pending executive order that would protect federal employees against discrimination on the basis of gender identity.After confirming that he has asked his staff to prepare an executive order barring federal contractors from discriminating against employees on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity, the president announced that he has requested another executive order to sign, extending gender identity antidiscrimination protections to federal employees.
