Duck Dynasty cast member Willie Robertson decided to defend and stand by his fathers anti-gay statements even as ratings of their once hit show continue to spiral, after Phil Robertson called gays murderers, liars, perverts and ruthless.
‘Phil just said what he thought, what was on his heart,’ he said of family patriarch Phil Robertson in an interview with CNN.
For his part, Willie Robertson said: ‘I believe what the Bible says.’ ‘You have to read the Bible and make up your own mind,’ he said. ‘You have to decide, and God will ultimately decide then. We don’t profess to be God, and we certainly don’t profess to be perfect. Because we have our own sins that we deal with.’….Like your show being a total FRAUD?
Just before Phil made his anti-gay statements to GQ, Duck Dynasty was ratings gold for A&E. The network suspended him from the show only to bring him back with in a week due to the “battle cry” of conservative crack pots. The show’s new season debuted shortly there and saw and immediate drop. It snagged 8.5 million views, down from 11 million the previous season. A 28% drop and things have not turned around. The show has now dipped in the ratings by 50% overall, averaging only 4.7 million viewers for last weeks episode.
Duck’s defenders may have quacked loud enough, claiming Freedom of speech (although it was anything but, Hate is the only word for it) for A&E to choose ignorance and hate over equality but ratings speak the loudest.
