Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes and apparent gay hater, has asked the US Supreme Court to restore the ban on gay marriage.

The emergency appeal was filed Tuesday (31 December) with Justice Sonia Sotomayer because she overseas appeals from the US region that includes Utah. Sotomayer can either rule herself after hearing from lawyers from the other side or refer the matter to the entire court.

Reyes also said he is willing to spend whatever it takes to fight gay marriage:

‘We’re willing to spend whatever it takes to protect the laws and the will of the people,’ Reyes tells the Associated Press. ‘We don’t know the exact price tag, but that’s part of the process of evaluating and engaging outside counsel.’
