Mayor refuses to march in Boston St. Patricks Day parade because they ban LGBT.
The mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino, a friend of the gays, who publicly fought against Chick-fil-A opening in Beentown, because of their nasty anti-gay ways, has announced he will not march in the St. Patty’s day parade because it does not allow LGBT groups to participle.
However he is not the only one. Joining him are Linda Forry and Maureen Dahill, who are running for state legislature, have decided that hate is not something that should be celebrated.
The Boston Pride organization commended the three for drawing a line in the sand and invited them to join the St. Patrick’s Day Peace Parade, where LGBT groups are welcome, on Saturday.
“The Boston Pride Parade always welcomes everyone and we understand better than most why it is important to be inclusive and to denounce bigotry,” Linda DeMarco, president of Boston Pride, said in a statement. “We are proud to support the Peace Parade and we applaud candidates and elected officials who stand with us in denouncing this discriminatory practice.”
Our hats off to Menino and Linda Forry and Maureen Dahill for taking a stand against discrimination.
