Another homophobic black man rears his ignorant head. Chris Culliver talked smack about a gay football player not be welcomed in the locker room and that they should stay in the closet AND that there are no gays on his team. Really? how would he know? Does he cuckold every player on his team? Or better yet, the other day i posted about a former 49er who is going on trial for assaulting his ex-boyfriend and Culliver thinks there are no gays on his team? Oh honey, dumb is a coat you wear well.
During an interview with Artie Lange, the following exchange took place:
When asked if gay players would be welcome on the team, Culliver said … “I don’t do the gay guys man. I don’t do that.”
When asked if he knew any gay players on his team “No, we don’t got no gay people on the team, they gotta get up out of here if they do.”
He continued, “Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah … can’t be … in the locker room man. Nah.”
Culliver also said … if a gay player were to make it in the NFL, he should not only keep his sexuality a secret from the other players … but stay quiet for 10 YEARS after that.
I recant my previous post, this IS the douche bag of the day. I sound like a broken record, even to myself, but i am baffled how a person who is part of the minority group that suffered the most horrific discrimination and civil rights atrocities in America, can actually bestow the same prejudice and HATE against ANYONE? The ignorance is mind blowing. There was a time and not so long ago that white players felt that a black man should not share the same locker room. I am sure this ignorant douche does not look upon those days favorably.
The 49ers organization wasted no time in rejecting Culliver’s comments.
A rep for the team had this to say “There is no place for discrimination within our organization at any level.”
“We have and always will proudly support the LGBT community.”
They have apparently already dealt with Culliver but what was discussed is unknown.
I will say this, if this was a player who made racist comments or anti-Semitic, he would be suspended immediately until further notice.
Update: Culliver has since apologized, of course:

I also have a responsibility to myself, and especially to my young fans to be a better role model. The kids who look up to me and other athletes are the future of our country, and our future deserves better than fear, hate and discrimination…. I was wrong, and I want to learn how to make it right. That’s why I reached out to The Trevor Project… No child should ever feel like they are less than anyone else, and God has put me through this storm so I can learn from my mistakes and help make sure no child has to feel that way again.”
In the weeks immediately following Super Bowl XLVII, Chris will be working with The Trevor Project staff and volunteers to learn about the risks that LGBTQ youth face and how Chris can do his part to reduce those risks.
