Detroit Tigers Outfielder Torii Hunter: A Gay Player Would Make Him ‘Uncomfortable’…GROW UP!
In a Los Angeles Times article, Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter would not like being in the same locker room as a gay player because it would make him “uncomfortable” . In my ultimate wisdom, i would say that is because he is on the down low and afraid of being exposed or he has some un -resolved deep rooted personal issues. But of course his reasoning is the joke a minute “I’m a Christian”.
Hunter, who is described in the Los Angeles Times story as “among baseball’s most thoughtful and intelligent players,” said a gay player would divide a Major League Baseball team.
“For me, as a Christian … I will be uncomfortable because in all my teachings and all my learning, biblically, it’s not right,” he told the newspaper. “It will be difficult and uncomfortable.”
Now, i wonder how Torii with would feel about a white or Latin or Asian player claiming that playing with a black teammate would make them feel uncomfortable? I wonder how he would have fared back in the 20′s, 30′s,40′s,50′s, 60′s, etc? Trust i am sure he would call for an Oprah town hall meeting at the travesty of a statement like that.
As i have said many times before, i find it the most IGNORANT, bigoted and uneducated thing for anyone in a minority group ESPECIALLY the black community to discriminate against anyone. And to hide behind the “Christian” label because that, in his mind makes being an UNEDUCATED, IGNORANT, BIGOT justifiable.
What a douche. GROW UP.

I think sometimes you just need to step back and look at the quotes being said before judging. Just because someone says they’re uncomfortable about homosexuality does not entirely mean their homophobic. You can’t change someone’s views over night or even in a course of a year.
I may not agree with Torii Hunter, but I admire his honesty. It’s better than someone saying on record they don’t care about having a gay team mate, but is privately homophobic. By the way, your latest rant just makes you sound racist.
Racist? Being anti gay or “uncomfortable” about being on the same team as a gay player, is exactly the same as a white player saying that about a black teammate.
How did u interperet that as racist? Being black is the same as being gay. You are born that way.
We r in 2013. Not 1960
And to think that not too long ago there were plenty of athletes who wouldn’t be comfortable around a BLACK player in their league.
