Uganda to pass ‘kill Gays” anti-gay bill this year…

Rebecca Kadaga – the face of hate

Uganda’s anti-gay bill will be passed before the end of 2012 despite international criticism of the draft legislation, the speaker of the country’s parliament said Monday, insisting it is what most Ugandans want.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga told The Associated Press that the bill, which originally mandated death for some gay acts, will become law this year.

Ugandans ‘‘are demanding it,’’ she said, reiterating a promise she made before a meeting on Friday of anti-gay activists who spoke of ‘‘the serious threat’’ posed by homosexuals to Uganda’s children. Some Christian clerics at the meeting in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, asked the speaker to pass the law as ‘‘a Christmas gift.’’

‘‘Speaker, we cannot sit back while such (a) destructive phenomenon is taking place in our nation,’’ the activists said in a petition. ‘‘We therefore, as responsible citizens, feel duty-bound to bring this matter to your attention as the leader of Parliament … so that lawmakers can do something to quickly address the deteriorating situation in our nation.’’

I do not like to resort to name calling, but these ignorant dumb-asses are nothing but a bunch of animals. No i take that back, i love animals, even they have more humanity than these scumbags.

The anti-gay activists paraded in front of Kadaga, with parents and schoolchildren holding up signs saying homosexuality is ‘‘an abomination.’’ The speaker then promised to consider the bill within two weeks, declaring that ‘‘the power is in our hands.’’

‘‘Who are we not to do what they have told us? These people should not be begging us,’’ Kadaga said of activists who want the bill to become law.

Who are you? I have a bunch of adjectives i could use to describe what lowlifes you are…

All aid should be cut off to Uganda if this law passes. ALL…

I’m a gay Ugandan, it’s good to see you feel so strongly about this, but quite frankly, for effect or not, this post boarders on offensive. Fair play you think what’s happening is wrong, calling people dumb asses is as good as sinking to their level and cutting off aid wouldn’t achieve anything.

It’s easy for someone on the outside to say such things, but honestly, Uganda’s way of life is quite literally a world away from western culture. I do believe gay men and women deserve rights, but it’s not as simple as passing legislation, you have to change the way people see homosexuality. As you said, the prevailing thought in Uganda is that it’s a threat to their children – an ignorant remark if ever there was any.

My point here is that slander will get this issue no where, but thinking about how to move forward is what needs to happen. And that begins with getting the message across to the next generation that gay men and women aren’t HIV/AID’s harbouring paedophiles.

ps. i was refering to the government, not all the people of Uganda. I believe not all feel this way, however cutting of aid does make the government run scared and sometimes, threats do make a difference…
