D-bag of the day: Ravens Matt Birk is against gay marriage but he insists hes not a bigot…

Footballs bible beating Matt Birk has decided that he wants to clarigy that  what the gay marriage debate “is and is not about, and to clarify that not all NFL players think redefining marriage is a good thing.”

And i will CLARIFY how off the effing mark Birk is. Lets begin shall we:

In a article Birk wrote for startribune:

“Same-sex unions may not affect my marriage specifically, but it will affect my children — the next generation. Ideas have consequences, and laws shape culture. Marriage redefinition will affect the broader well-being of children and the welfare of society. As a Christian and a citizen, I am compelled to care about both.”

Exactly how will it affect his children? If DOMA is overturned and gay marriage becomes legal in the U.S. is his “presumably” straight  children not going to be allowed to marry a person of the opposite sex? If gay marriage does not affect his marriage “specifically” , how is it going to “specifically” affect his children’s? I am confused on how it will also “affect the  welfare of society” obviously Birk is too. Does he really think that god is going to use his wrath on society because two people who love each other want to marry one another? I think not. I mean after all isn’t he all about love?

I am speaking out on this issue because it is far too important to remain silent. People who are simply acknowledging the basic reality of marriage between one man and one woman are being labeled as “bigots” and “homophobic.” Aren’t we past that as a society?

No, we are not past that and the fact remains, ANYONE who is against gay marriage regardless of their faith excuse, is a bigot. It is that simple. Denying people equal rights, is discrimination and bigotry. Know your facts dumbass.

Don’t we all have family members and friends whom we love who have same-sex attraction? Attempting to silence those who may disagree with you is always un-American, but especially when it is through name-calling, it has no place in respectful conversation.

“Same-sex attractions”? It’s called being gay. Wtf is this a sex ed class? There is nothing un-American in trying to silence anyone who promotes discrimination, bigotry and denying people civil rights.  Because of the beliefs of people like Birk, kids are being bullied and taking their lives at an alarming rate. How christian is that? “Respectful conversation ? Their is no way to have a respectful conversation with someone who has none for some one of a different sexual orientation from theirs. Naming calling is fierce 😉

A defense of marriage is not meant as an offense to any person or group. All people should be afforded their inalienable American freedoms. There is no opposition between providing basic human rights to everyone and preserving marriage as the sacred union of one man and one woman.

Telling people that they are not worthy of the same rights as you because you believe they are second class citizens,  should not be taken as an “offense”?

Bible beating Christians are the most effed up people in the country…
