Petition delivered to HarperCollins to end Berenstain Bears relationship with Chick-Fil-A…
CREDO Action, SumofUs.org and Faithful America, delivered a petition to HarperCollins demanding that the company end their partnership with the Berenstain Bears (which they have the rights too) and Chick.
Chick took up with the bears after The Jim Henson Company severed ties with the fast food home of hate because of their anti-gay donations and marriage stance.
Leaders of the progressive groups said the Berenstain Bears teach values and fight bigotry, and that it is wrong for Chick-fil-A to partner with the characters.
“HarperCollins needs to learn a lesson from its own Berenstain Bears, which teach children about the values of acceptance, and the dangers of bigotry,” said Taren Stinebrickner-Kauffman, founder of SumOfUs.org. “By partnering with Chick-fil-A, a company that actively bankrolls hatred and discrimination against the LGBT community, HarperCollins is undermining the lessons of the beloved Bear family. The Berenstains should follow the Muppets’ lead, and cut ties with Chick-fil-A.”
