Judas Priest’ openly gay Rob Halford thinks Chick-Fil-A war is all about free speech…Get your facts Rob…

Openly gay Singer of the 80′s rock group Judas Priest believes the Chick-fil-A contorversy was all about free speech and they have that right.

Um, i would expect this inaccuracy from a straight person but a gay one? Wtf?

Halford: “Before I get into this, I just want to say that I love America. I love the American Constitution and the First Amendment,” And all citizens should be treated fairly and equally, right Rob? But he doesn’t stop there.

“if you really get into the heart and soul of this great country, it’s all about the constitution and the First Amendment and freedom of speech.”

“the people at Chick-fil-A have the absolute right to say and do what they want. It doesn’t matter that all of these people disagree with their opinion.”

Oh Rob, you are gravely uneducated about the facts. This war is about the millions of dollars that Chick has donated to anti-gay groups including reparative therapy groups (ex-gay) to fight the passage of gay rights. And for the record, even if this was about “free speech” Chick’s speech is WRONG. It is about discrimination and bigotry. If Chick said that they do not agree with black people being able to vote or should not have the right to marry, there would be a major shit storm, with lawsuits up the ass and the major protests at every location and an Oprah Town Hall meeting…They would be vilified.  But because they are against gay rights, this discrimination is acceptable?

ps Rob, get the facts and re think your stance…

But, but, it is about free speech — Chick-fil-a has the right to be idiots — they can speak their peace till they are blue in the face — that’s just true. They gave their money to failed ex-gay groups — but it’s their money, it’s their right. Just like we have the corresponding right to tell them they are idiots.

The only time Free Speech is impinged is when the government stops people — the 1st Amendment restricts government from interfering with free speech — not citizens mouthing off at each other.

Don’t tell Chick-fil-a to shush — speak back to them and show them their idiocy, so they might evolve — after all, they hold a position that Obama and Biden and the Democratic party held until just three months ago. If they can evolve, and we let them in their sweet time — why not Chick-fil-a?

Liberty, you know, is messy — and free speech more so — speak what you wish, don’t tell others they should shut up — that’s not nice.

I’m gay but I think it is their right to believe what they want and donate to whomever they want. It’s unfortunate their stance goes against the fight for equality but that’s how it is.
You have to hope one day they will wake up and open their minds, and see that being gay isn’t that big of a deal.

As a gay male, I have this to say: IT IS JUST A CHICKEN SANDWICH. I feel so many are being blind sided by the reality here. We live in America. You can say what you want and spend your money on whatever you want. I am actually more ashamed of the gay community, especially those like the writer of this piece, who are trying to punish this company for its rights, than the Chick-Fil-A itself. Reacting like your pants just caught fire is counterproductive to our equality if we don’t recognize the rights of companies and people to be entitled to these rights, than how do we expect that they recognize our rights such as marriage, etc. The bigger point for me is this: The values of the company’s owners is not why I buy a chicken sandwich. i buy a chicken sandwich because i am hungry and like chicken. I am not buying morality nor am I purchasing political, religious, or social values. I am buying a chicken sandwich.

It is not just about a “chicken sandwich”. The issue with chick like i have said many times on this site, is not whether they have a right or should be punished for their beliefs, this is American and they do have a right to their own views as bigoted as they are. As we have that same right to boycott a company that believes we are unequal. However this issue is about a company that has donated millions of dollars to groups that fight to keep gays from equal rights, and donated to ex-gay conversion groups. i ask you this, if Chick was saying and donating to groups that apposed African american equal rights, would you be saying the same thing? I’m sure i can answer that question with a no.

And as a gay man YOU should be appalled and “reacting with your pants on fire.” Just remember, that when you are spending your money at chick, your money is going to groups that fight to deny you equality and keep you as a second class citizen. That is fact. I strongly suggest you rethink your opinion, because buying any product from Chick IS buying morality, religious views and the social values of a company that believes that who you are, is not worthy of the equality and protections that they so enjoy.
