Woman comes out, gets fired, says it’s because she is gay…
Wake County leaders will look into allegations that a former production crew member at commissioner meetings was fired for being gay.
Veda Renfrow said she lost her job one day after the board voted to support the proposed state constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
She presented her concerns Monday afternoon at a commissioners meeting.
“On Feb. 20, you all voted to pass a resolution to support Amendment One and on the next day, I no longer had a job,” she told them.
Renfrow worked for four years as a broadcast technician recording commission meetings. She worked as a subcontractor and was not a county employee.
