Ok, I love music and i especially love sites where you can go and listen to the songs before buying them. Check out this new site called The Hive. A friend of mine and 3 others put this great site together. Their focus is non top 40 (love it) but any genre is featured as long as the music "rocks". I will say it is definatley more focused on alt-pop/dance/dubstrep, elctronica and singer song writer, but from what i have been told opera could as easily be featured on the site as well. For me personally what i like about the site is this: It is very easy to view and play the songs or videos. There is not all that extra crap that websites tend to have. Also for each song there is a brief bio of the artist, which i love because i always want to know the person behind the music.


If you love music like this bitch does go and check it out. You will not be disapointed. Just a note, i have not yet caought up on all the artists but i love Sky Ferreira-One, it is a great song! It gets you pumping. Great workout song....

In the San Francisco Bay Area, 13-year-old Noah Hornik is combining his love for indie music with a passion for equality.

Noah has heard many stories about teens in the Bay Area commiting suicide after facing anti-gay bullying. He also witnessed hate speech on the Internet against students his own age, as well as seeing his home state of California pass Prop. 8, which overturned same-sex marriage rights.

With so much hate around him, Noah decided to take steps to raise awareness. In an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle, he explains, "Between the suicides, (anti-same-sex marriage) Prop. 8 and what I was seeing online, I realized we needed to take this further...These kids are my age."

Noah is planning a benefit concert to support LGBT youth suicide prevention (see his video here). The concert is called "It Gets Indie," and it features music from Rabbit! and the Handshakes (Noah is an indie music enthusiast -- he writes the blog Indie Rock Kid and he also has a Myspace page dedicated to indie music with over 87,000 followers.)

Noah is right to be concerned with suicide among LGBT teens. As reported by The Trevor Project, LGBT youth are four times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight colleagues. More than 1/3 of lesbian, gay and bisexual youth have attempted suicide.

Although he does not identify as gay, Noah has dedicated himself to the fight for LGBT rights. He founded his middle school's gay-straight alliance, the Rainbow Connection, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Religious cops lured Stephen Comiskey, 36, into an ambush by sending him texts posing as a friend of his.

They beat him up, flung him in a cell and told him he faced charges of homosexuality - a capital offence under the Muslim kingdom's Sharia law.

Stephen was throttled into signing a "confession" in Arabic he could not read before being released.

Diplomats believe his arrest was linked to the case of gay Saudi Prince Saud Abdulaziz bin Nasser al Saud, 34.

He was jailed for life last year for killing his servant Bandar Abdulaziz in a London hotel.

Saudi authorities are understood to have lobbied for the prince's homosexuality to be kept secret at his trial to avoid embarrassment at home.

But British legal chiefs refused, saying his sexuality was key to the case. Foreign Office chiefs fear Stephen was targeted in a tit-for-tat revenge.

Bray, who has been busted before on marijuana possession and robbery charges, has been charged with misdemeanor assault, though cops haven't ruled out hitting him with hate crime charges. Bray and another attacker allegedly yelled things like, “You Fucking F----t" while beating Furtch, leaving him with two black eyes and needing multiple stitches. However, one police source said, “It may come down to just two guys having a fistfight."

Police say Furtch exchanged words with Bray inside the McDonald's, provoking Bray to follow him outside and fight him. Furtch previously claims his attackers just gave him strange looks, and followed him when he left because he felt uncomfortable. Furtch said, "The attack against me is part of the larger issue of violence against gay and transgender people in New York City."

The recently fired chief operating officer of fashion label Marc Jacobs International has sued his boss for, among other things, making employees look at gay porn and perform pole dances. If true, these allegations could rock the staid, buttoned-down world of fashion.

Patrice Lataillade has worked for LVHM, Marc Jacobs' parent company, since 1996, and he was Marc Jacobs International's chief financial officer from 2002—and CFO from 2006—to 2010, when he was fired. In a complaint he filed yesterday in New York Supreme Court, Lataillade claims he was unlawfully terminated for complaining about the hostile work environment created by Marc Jacobs' president Robert Duffy (pictured at left above).

"Examples of Duffy's conduct which created a hostile work environment include," the complaint says, "his displaying gay pornography in the office and requiring employees to look at it; his production and dissemination of a book which included MJI staff in sexual positions or nude; [and] his requirement that an MJI store employee perform a pole dance for him." He's been in Vogue and Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" video; he's modeled Versace and Louis Vitton. But early Saturday morning, police say Eric Zentner's life was cut short by a hit-and-run driver.

At 30 years old, Eric Zentner was going places.

"There were projects that he had in the works just right now that were good," said his cousin Zach Zentner of Eric's career, "It was on its way."

Zentner was reportedly on his way home to visit his mother in Gold River, East of Sacramento, when he ran out of gas on the 101 outside of Santa Barbara.

"He exited the vehicle and began walking. We believe at some point he crossed the road East," said California Highway Patrol Officer Cliff Powers.

Zentner was struck sometime around 3:45 a.m. Saturday morning by a driver who then left the scene of the accident.

"I've thought about that a lot," Zach Zentner said. "I just wonder what their situation is. I hope they can bring it to themselves to come forward and admit it to themselves they need to do something about this and say 'this is what happened'."

CHP officers say they are still looking for any tips that might help them find the vehicle that struck Zentner. They believe it was a light blue Dodge Caravan from the mid 1990's. deets here

An educational organization has canceled an event planned for a Mahatma Gandhi biography that was banned in part of India after reviews hinted the father of the nation's independence had a homosexual relationship.

The event, in honor of Pulitzer Prize-winner Joseph Lelyveld's "Great Soul," was to have been hosted April 13 in Santa Clara, Calif., by the Foundation for Excellence, a nonprofit that provides scholarships for students in India.

"We didn't want to be involved with any controversy because that is not the purpose of our organization — we are not a literary society that encourages debate and discussion on different authors and their books," foundation spokesman Abhu Shukla told The Associated Press on Friday. "So, it is correct that we canceled because of the controversy."

Although not out yet in India, "Great Soul: Mahatma Gandhi and His Struggle With India" has been banned by a western state there after reviews suggested Gandhi had a homosexual relationship with a German named Hermann Kallenbach. More bans have been proposed in India, where homosexuality was illegal until 2009 and still carries social stigma. deets here

The Pentagon said Friday the military should be trained in working with openly gay members by summer's end, prompting House Republicans to complain that repeal of "don't ask, don't tell" was moving too quickly in wartime.

In a status report to Congress, Clifford Stanley, the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, and Vice Adm. William Gortney of the Joint Staff said the Pentagon was moving forward on educating members of the military on the new policy, what's expected of them and the responsibilities for commanders and other leaders.  deets here

The other day i had posted about Derek Morado, a gay salior who had "violated" DADT and was up for investigation by a review board in Cali. Well in an unanimous 3-0 decsion, the board voted against the discharge of Morado. He will be allowed to serve the rest of his three years.

The 26-year-old Morado says he had been under investigation for violating the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy since 2009, when someone reported seeing a picture of him kissing another man and that he described himself as gay on his MySpace page.

Congress voted to repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell” in December, but the policy remains in effect until military leaders certify the armed forces are ready to integrate openly gay troops. deets here

RLS is a distressing neurologic disorder characterised by an urge to move the legs. It is usually associated with unpleasant sensations in the lower limbs such as tingling, aching and itching.

The exact causes of RSL have yet to be pinpointed, but brain autopsies and imaging studies suggest one contributing factor is an imbalance of dopamine – a hormonal messenger that, among other things, activates the areas of the brain responsible for pleasure. It is suspected that dopamine imbalance is responsible for some of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

Drugs that increase dopamine have been shown to reduce symptoms of RLS when taken at bedtime and are considered the initial treatment of choice.

Although such drugs provided significant improvement of symptoms for a 41-year-old man with RLS, he found an even better treatment – complete relief after masturbation or sex.

TMZ has obtained legal docs filed in a lawsuit against Dr. Phil for allegedly defaming two men in theNatalee Holloway case -- the girl who disappeared in Aruba.

We placed a call to Dr. Phil's rep. So far ... no comment.

Oprah had scheduled to do an exclusive interview with Natalee's mom, Beth on Sept. 20, 2005. But Phil had been working as well to snag the same interview, when he found out Oprah was in the game.

In the docs, there is a chain of emails between Dr. Phil and his staff. One of the producers wrote an email to Phil, saying she had found out that Oprah had an interview with Beth. The producer had a plan: "But we can OUT SCOOP Oprah & do the show w/ her first no matter what we find tomorrow we still have an interesting show - plus only YOU can really help."

A Colorado state House committee voted Thursday against moving a bill forward that would have granted civil union rights to gay and lesbian couples.

Though the bill, SB-172, had passed the state senate last week with three Republican votes and all 20 Democratic votes, six Republicans in the House committee voted last night against sending the bill onto another committee, with five Democrats voting in favor of doing so.

Of the Thursday evening hearing, which included testimony both for and against civil unions, bill cosponsor Rep. Mark Ferrandino told the Denver Post that while it was difficult to hear the antigay testimony, "What makes me saddest ... is there were people on that committee who were, I think, supportive in their hearts but weren't willing to stand up against the leadership and the far-right fringe of their party."

Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper was expected to sign the legislation into law if it had passed in the House.

“Today’s vote was out of touch with everyday Colorado voters," One Colorado executive director Brad Clark said in a statement. "With 72% of Coloradans in support of civil unions, House Republicans are out of the mainstream. Once again, they have turned their backs on Colorado families and kids.” deets here

It’s the silver anniversary of the passage of New York City’s gay and lesbian rights bill. The City Council adopted it 21-14 on March 21, 1986, and Mayor Ed Koch signed it into law on April 2.

A quarter of a century ago sounds like a long time in the past, but New York was actually one of the last big American cities to pass such a bill, even though the concept of adding “sexual orientation” to non-discrimination laws was dreamt up here by the Gay Activists Alliance (GAA) in 1971.

The bill was on the verge of passage in 1974, but after a vicious smear campaign by New York’s Catholic Archdiocese and the firefighters union, it became the first measure in the Council’s history to clear committee only to lose on the floor, when even some sponsors voted against it.

The bill was subsequently kept from seeing the light of day by Council Majority Leader Tom Cuite of Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, the right-wing head of the Catholic War Veterans. During his 1977 run for Mayor, Koch told a group of gays whose support he sought that any mayor who couldn’t pass that bill within six months of taking office was incompetent. He got elected, but it took nine more years. deets here

ATLANTA -- A woman who worked as a counselor for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention claims she was wrongly fired because of religious discrimination for refusing to advise a woman in a same-sex relationship, and she asked a federal appeals court Thursday to let her bring a lawsuit against the Atlanta-based agency.

There's no dispute that a woman came to Marcia Walden in 2007 for advice involving a same-sex relationship, and Walden was let go after she told the woman she couldn't help because her "personal values" as a devout Christian prevented her from offering any assistance. The woman, who was not named in legal filings, complained to administrators that she felt "judged and condemned" by Walden after the encounter.

The company that the CDC had hired to provide counseling services, Computer Sciences Corporation, terminated Walden at the CDC's request.

The CDC and the company told the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals that Walden could have simply referred the employee to another counselor without explanation. They argued that Walden's religious beliefs didn't require her to tell the client about her moral objections to engaging in same-sex relationship counseling.

"The CDC intervened and said we can't have a counselor who wants to exclude an entire segment of the population," said Jeffrey Schwartz, an attorney for the contractor. "It would destroy the integrity of the program. People don't want to come in and see a counselor if they are going to be kicked in the knees."

CDC attorney Matthew Collette added that the firm's contract allows a counselor with a religious conflict to refer a case to another staffer, but bars the counselor from broadcasting feelings that "would cause potentially serious damage" to the program. deets here

Social conservative Matt Barber has defended his claims that LGBT teens kill themselves because they know “what they are doing is unnatural, is wrong, is immoral,” RightWingWatch.org reported.

On Monday, Barber, an associate dean at the Christian conservative Liberty University School of Law, told Peter LaBarbera, president of the anti-gay group Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, that activists use anti-bullying programs to further a “radical pro-homosexual, anti-Christian agenda.”

“Kids who are engaging in homosexual behavior I think often look inward and know that what they are doing is unnatural, is wrong, is immoral,” Barber said on the radio program. “And so they become depressed and the instances of suicide can rise there as well.”

On Wednesday, Barber returned to defend his remarks.

“You know, scripture says 'woe to those who call evil good and good evil.' When homosexual activists and other progressives in the pro-sin movement are exposed to biblical truth, their reaction is invariably visceral and loud,” he said.

“There's 'nothing new under the sun.' This 'kill the messenger' strategy is age-old and knee-jerk. These folks, as a matter of course, call evil good and good evil. Of course their gripe isn't with me. I'm nothing. I'm nobody. Their problem is with their creator, the natural order and the fallen state of mankind.” deets here

Last week i posted about a NYC gay bashing incident that happened outside of a McDonlads. 26 year old Damian Furtch had encountered two men inside the resturant staring at him and then the proceeded to follow him outside and attacked him. Below is the video of the attack. The two scumbags yelled anti-gay slurs and Furtch believes he was attacked becasue of his clothes and pink shoelaces according to his Facebook wall.

The Sofitel wants to start having commercial helicopter landings on its rooftop but neighbors are worried about sound and safety.

Helicopters are a fact of life in Los Angeles. Everyone knows how loud they can be, especially police helicopters circling overhead. But imagine living beside a regular helicopter landing site and you will begin to understand the frustration of one West Hollywood neighborhood.

Residents in West Hollywood West, an area made up of almost 1,000 single-family homes north of Beverly Boulevard, west of La Cienega and east of Doheny, already have two nearby helicopter landing sites to contend with—at theWest Hollywood Sheriff’s Station and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Now, the upscale high-rise Sofitel hotel on Beverly across from the Beverly Center is proposing to use its emergency evacuation helicopter pad for commercial use.

“The Sofitel wants to be able to offer something unique,” said Mike Leary, a consultant working with the hotel on the proposal. “It’s a lifestyle choice that few hotels can offer.”

Lauren Meister, who lives 500 feet north of the Sofitel, hopes it will not be able to offer the service. She and other residents are putting up a fight.

“The noise is bad. It can wake you up at night,” said Meister, who has lived in her home on Westbourne Drive since 1997. “It’s an irritant. It affects our quality of life.” deets here

NASHVILLE — Tennessee will remain one of just four states that refuse to provide a means of changing a birth certificate to reflect a change of gender.

Rep. Jeanne Richardson, D-Memphis, said Wednesday that she has decided to drop HB187, which would allow birth certificates to be amended to show a change of gender upon submission of an appropriate sworn statement from a physician or other medical personnel.

“I believe there is a fair amount of homophobia in this state, and that’s what is fueling the opposition,” she said after taking the measure “off notice” in a House subcommittee without attempting a vote.

Opposition to the bill makes passage impossible this year, Richardson said, but she intends to try again next year after talking with legislative colleagues and providing them with information to counter concerns.

“This is not some left-wing, crazy idea,” she said. “Almost all other states realize it’s the right thing to do. … These folks now have a hard time traveling and other things because they were born in Tennessee.”

According to Richardson, only Idaho, Ohio and Texas currently join Tennessee in providing no means to revise a birth certificate for change of gender. Some states that do permit a change require a court order, she said. deets here

The dinner is scheduled for Saturday evening at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel, 1600 South Disneyland Drive, Anaheim. According to the Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) website, the "Celebration of Justice 2011" will feature Fox commentator Dick Morris, fresh off his appearance the day before at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, as the dinner speaker. Ticket packages range from $250 each to $10,000 for a table of 10.

A bill heading to Washington governor Chris Gregoire's desk would allow the state to recognize marriages of gay and lesbian couples performed elsewhere.

The state senate passed the bill with a 28-19 vote, with four Republicans voting with mostly Democrats to support the vote. In the house, the bill passed 58-39 on a party-line vote, according to the Associated Press.

The law would classify the marriages as domestic partnerships, as same-sex couples in the state can enter into domestic partnerships, and not full marriages. State senator Ed Murray told KIRO Radio that the bill fills the gap in Washington's existing domestic-partnership law but is not meant to substitute for marriage equality.

"We're not there yet," Murray said. "The important thing is that we pass this legislation when the public is with us. We want to be able to survive a ballot initiative that surely will be filed against it." deets here

Ok, I just got back from the gym. I have a pet peeve that sends me over the edge. I can not stand when someone reeks of B.O. I do not understand it. I think it is so rude to the other people at the gym. Especially when the person of stink leaves their scent on the machines. Gross. Now i do not buy and never have, that some people do not smell themselves, bullshitz. I know if I'm not shower fresh. So that theory does not cut it. I go to a predominantly gay gym in West Hollywood. So most of the gays are very clean, but there is that segment ( albeit small) of fetish guys that are into body odor and that is fine behind close doors but in a gym, people have respect for others and clean yourself. Not trying to offend anyone, but body odor is offensive....Does it make you disgusted too?

DOVER, Del. — A bill offering legal recognition to same-sex couples in Delaware has cleared a Senate committee.

Majority Democrats on the committee agreed to send the bill to the full Senate following a hearing Wednesday.

The bill restricts civil unions in Delaware to same-sex couples, keeping marriage under state law limited to opposite-sex couples.

Supporters say the bill is about equal rights for homosexuals, while opponents say it is a thinly disguised prelude to sanctioning same-sex marriage in Delaware.

Couples who enter into civil unions would have the same rights and obligations as married spouses, and Family Court would have jurisdiction over the dissolution of civil unions, as it does with marriages.

But homosexual couples moving from states that allow same-sex marriages would be recognized in Delaware only as civil union partners. deets here

To bad is what i say. First of we are suppose to have separation of church and state. Secondly, if you are going to discriminate then you should not get any federal funding. Period. They want to spread their hate well then they should pay the consequences.
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has come out against proposed regulations to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in federally funded housing.

The regulations, being considered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, are “at odds” with the Defense of Marriage Act and could force faith-based programs receiving HUD funds to violate their religious beliefs by providing housing to gay couples or unmarried straight couples, lawyers for the Catholic group said in comments filed with HUD last Friday.

HUD released the regulations for public comment in January, with Secretary Shaun Donovan calling the nondiscrimination provisions “a fundamental issue of fairness.” They do not require congressional approval, but HUD officials can adopt them as they see fit after considering public input. They would apply to both rental housing and homeownership programs that receive HUD assistance.

The bishops’ group does not want to see any individual denied housing, but shared housing is another matter, wrote general counsel Anthony Picarello and associate general counsel Michael Moses. They said they fear that faith-based groups will be forced, “as a condition of participating in HUD programs and in contravention of their religious beliefs, to facilitate shared housing arrangements between persons who are not joined in the legal union of one man and one woman.”

The Spanish-language tabloids are claiming that Ricky Martin may be seeking Spanish citizenship in order to make his relationship with longtime boyfriend Carlos Gonzalez official.

His good friend, Spanish model Esther Cañadas, has reportedly even offered up her house so that Ricky can have a place to stay while he applies for citizenship. The whispers began just weeks after the Puerto Rican pop staropenly confirmed his relationship with Gonzalez by thanking him at the GLAAD awards. He may even be planning a move to the motherland since same-sex marriage is legal there. deets here

New costume on right.

Whens got a look at the ill-advised costume. Outrage quickly ensued. And hell hath no fury like a comic fan outraged.

The anger stemmed from Wonder Woman's shiny, rubber-like pants and high heels. It looked like a cheap version of a "sexy" Halloween costume. Fans cried out -- this is no way for a superhero, especially one of the most beloved of all time, to dress.

The blogosphere immediately went into cynical overdrive. Commenters on EW's article speculated that the show would be canceled in a matter of weeks. SlashFilm wrote that the outfit did little to inspire confidence in the show's prospects.

Apparently the producers of the show were listening. Some photos of the actress on the set have surfaced, and eagle-eyed fans quickly spotted the changes to Wonder Woman's threads. The shiny pants have been replaced by a more natural-looking fabric. Her footwear has gone through a transformation as well. The bright boots, which were once blue, are now red. Immigration officials will no longer put a hold on the cases of binational, married gay couples, just two days after Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that such cases would be halted pending further legal guidance.

On Wednesday morning, USCIS press secretary Christopher S. Bentley toldThe Advocate that the agency had received legal guidance to lift the hold it had issued on Monday. The guidance was issued in the form of written communications from the Office of the General Counsel at Department of Homeland Security (USCIS is a component of DHS).

Bentley declined to release any of the written documents at this time, saying it was privileged communication. He emphasized that the official policy itself within DHS had never changed. deets here

Naming a West Hollywood street after movie star and AIDS activist Elizabeth Taylor, who passed away last week.

According to Michelle Rex, interim deputy for Councilman John D'Amico, West Hollywood residents have been calling and writing City Hall, making that very suggestion.

Rex says there has yet to be a formal discussion about the proposal among city leaders, but the public's call for an Elizabeth Taylor Way is certainly legitimate.

Local HIV/AIDS activists told L.A. Weekly that Taylor was a major, early force in raising money and awareness to combat the deadly disease that was killing thousands and thousands of gay men.
