Judge Ok's Inmates Law Suit Claims Of Being Bit On Penis By Rodent In Cell...

In February 2007, Mr Solomon, a Vietnam veteran who says he has been treated for post-traumatic stress disorder, was jailed in the Nassau County Correctional Center near New York City, pending trial on charges he had menaced his wife.

He was transferred to a medical observation unit amid worries he was mentally ill. He claims at night a rat "or similar rodent" emerged from a hole in his mattress and bit him on the penis and hand, drawing blood.

Mr Solomon, who is in his 50s, claimed the county was indifferent to his treatment and failed to protect him from the vermin, and sued for damages.

County officials said they were shielded from lawsuits because they had acted in an official capacity, they were unaware of substantial risks, and they disputed the notion that a rodent problem existed in the jail.

They also noted the wound did not require stitching and that his injuries were merely psychological.

"The parties dispute whether the rodent was a mouse or a rat, whether Solomon was bitten or scratched, and the nature and extent of his injuries," Judge Arthur Spatt wrote.

He ruled on Thursday the suit may proceed.

80% Young Gays Want To Get Married...

According to gay glossy Out's first annual sex and love survey, 80 percent of 18- to 25-year-olds want to tie the knot. Older gay folks, however, are less enthused. Fifty-one percent of 26- to 45-year-olds are eager to make it official.

Similarly, younger gay folks are looking to start a family.

According to the survey, a large majority (70%) of young people want kids, but only 31 percent of those surveyed between the ages of 26 and 45 are interested in parenthood.

Sup't Denies Schools Ignored Gay Teen's Troubles....

The schools superintendent in a Central California town where a gay teenager committed suicide is questioning claims from the boy's mother that administrators turned a blind eye to her son's harassment by classmates.

The Bakersfield Californian reported Thursday that Superintendent Richard Swanson of the Tehachapi Unified School District also said he finds some of Seth Walsh's mother's accounts of the alleged bullying "difficult to believe."

Swanson made the comments in a letter to the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California. The group has been working with Wendy Walsh to demand that the district develop a comprehensive plan to address anti-gay bias.

Swanson says the district plans to hire an investigator to look into the mother's complaints.

Serbian Gays Fight For Gay Marriage...

A Serbian gay rights group has called for the Serbian Constitution to be changed so that it does not rule out future efforts to legalise same-sex marriage.

Serbia’s current constitution, dating from 2006, effectively bans same-sex marriage by defining it as “a union between a man and a woman”, and the country does not recognise same-sex partnerships in other ways.

The Gay-Lesbian Info Centre (GLIC) has also called for an article in the Constitution covering sexuality discrimination.

“We believe that change is important, in order to leave the possibility for the gay-lesbian community in Serbia to, one day, when it’s ready, legalise same-sex marriages, without making new changes to the Constitution,” GLIC said in a statement.

“We hope that political parties that advocate equality and human rights will consider our proposals and show they care about the equality of all the citizens of Serbia.”

DOJ Defends Defense Of Marriage Act...

The Justice Department on Thursday filed a motion justifying the Defense of Marriage Act in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, appealing a federal judge's decision that the part of DOMA which defines marriage as between a man and a woman is unconstitutional.

But the appeal makes clear that the Obama administration doesn't support DOMA, and that the Justice Department was simply following tradition in defending even those laws the executive branch disagrees with.

"Indeed, the President supports repeal of DOMA and has taken the position that Congress should extend federal benefits to individuals in same-sex marriages," DOJ writes in the appeal. "But a consensus behind that approach has not yet developed, and Congress could properly take notice of the divergent views regarding same-sex marriage across the states."

Tim Pawlenty Continues To Be A Douchebag....

Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty, a possible Republican presidential candidate for 2012, said Wednesday he would support an effort to reinstate "don't ask, don't tell."

Pawlenty was speaking on the American Family Association's Brian Fischer's radio show about a range of gay rights issues, including marriage equality, GOProud's involvement at the Conservative Political Action Conference, and the repeal of the military's ban on openly gay and lesbian personnel.

In addition to expressing his support for reinstating "don't ask, don't tell," he said prohibiting marriage equality is not only a legal issue, but "an important cornerstone for our society and our culture."

He added, "Families and traditional marriage is so important to that, and I don't believe all other domestic relations should be on the same platform as traditional marriage. I just don't buy, and so I've been a strong supporter of traditional marriage. I also think who you appoint to courts in this regard is important, and we don't have litmus tests, so to speak, but we want strict constructionists and people who take a conservative view toward the interpretation of our laws."

Money For Nothing, Ruled To Offensive...

Money For Nothing, a classic-rock radio staple by Dire Straits, is too offensive for Canadian broadcasts because of its use of the word "faggot," the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council has ruled.

The ruling, released Wednesday, responded to a complaint submitted to St. John's radio station CHOZ-FM over a Feb. 1 airing of an unedited version of the song, which mentions the word three times.

The complainant wrote that the song's lyrics were "extremely offensive" to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.

The council is an independent body created by Canadian radio and television broadcasters to review the standards of their content.

Co-written in 1985 by Mark Knopfler and Sting, Money For Nothing takes the perspective of a working-class man watching music videos, which were still a new medium at the time.

The song, which was the first single off of Dire Straits' album Brothers in Arms, earned the British band a Grammy for best rock performance and topped the American Billboard modern rock chart for three weeks. The song's corresponding music video, widely known for its use of then-state-of-the-art computer animation, was the first music video aired on MTV Europe.

Anti-Gay Coffee Shop Manger Arrested For Molestation...

The antigay activist who opened the Holy Grounds coffee shop in Springfield, Mass, said he did not know that the man he hired to be the shop's manager was a sex offender and had spent two and a half years in a New York prison for abusing an 11-year-old girl.

"He strikes me as a very kind and gentle and honorable man," shop owner Scott Lively said toThe Republican, a Springfield newspaper. He added that while he was unaware that Michael Frediani, 38, was a sex offender, he asserted that "a lot of Christians are former criminals."

Frediani, who lived above the coffee shop at 453 State St. in Springfield, was arrested by police on Thursday for not registering as a Level 2 sex offender. In New York, where he was originally imprisoned, Frediani is classified as a Level 3 sex offender, indicating he is deemed highly likely to repeat his crime. Frediani told the newspaper last week that he was a born-again Christian and "a minister of Jesus."

Part of the local controversy over the shop is its proximity to the High School of Commerce, as students are lured in by free coffee, causing some to skip classes. City council member Tim Rooke said his "main concern is they are interacting with a gentleman who has very different viewpoints than most of the people in Springfield."

Lively, who has called the gay movement an "evil institution," defended the coffee shop as a religious center and not a business. He has also been affiliated with the move to make homosexuality in Uganda punishable by death.

Yale Univ. Messes Up, Gay Employees Have To Pay More....

For many gay employees at Yale University, 2010 ended with a bit of a thud. That's because due to a University payroll error, 61 gay employees found out that they had the wrong amount of income withdrawn from their paychecks to cover their 2010 tax bill. Now, because of the glitch, these gay employees will see extra deductions from their paychecks over the course of the next three months, to cover taxes that should have been withdrawn in 2010.

Talk about a real financial inconvenience. And the problem underscores why, until we have federal marriage equality, gay couples will continue to face financial inequities in the workplace, unless their employers step up and help level the playing field.

Gay Marriage Repeal Not On NH GOP Radar This Year...

CONCORD, N.H. -- Republicans who control the New Hampshire House have decided that repealing the state's gay marriage law won't be on their agenda this year.

House Republican Leader D.J. Bettencourt confirmed to The Associated Press on Wednesday that jobs and the economy will be the top priorities on an agenda to be announced Thursday. Bettencourt says there's widespread agreement that social issues will have to take a back seat.

Gay marriage was enacted in 2009 when Democrats controlled the Legislature. Democratic Gov. John Lynch signed the law and has since said he would veto any repeal attempt.

Conservatives were hoping for enough votes for both a repeal and veto override after voters in November gave Republicans control of the Legislature. Lynch defeated a Republican challenger who opposed gay marriage, despite ads run by national groups criticizing his decision to sign the bill.

Police Investigating High School Hazing Indecent In Co.

Jefferson High School administrators and sheriff deputies have launched an investigation into a hazing and bullying incident involving the wrestling team.

Parents say some of the kids have been disciplined and the head coach is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Some of the upperclassmen on the wrestling team are accused of assault and battery and criminal sexual conduct.

"They tried to attack my son, they jumped on him. My son threw them off of him," said one Jefferson High parent who asked to remain anonymous. She says she overheard her son and his friends discussing the hazing

"One of the kids got tackled, and there were kids inserting their finger into another kids rectum, and then later on in the locker room that day that the kid got peed on, punched in the back of his head, and thrown out of the locker room," the parent said.

Obama Speaks In Arizona...

Did you just watch Obama's speech in Arizona? It was quite a speech to say the least. When the president announced that after he had just left the hospital Gabby Giffords opened her eyes for the first time, there was an electricity in the arena like nothing i have seen. You could feel it even watching it from your t.v. Obama mentioned everyone who had died during Saturdays rampage, as well as the heroes, but when he got to 9 year old Christina Green, the disgust that was in the pit of your stomach plummeted to he heels of your feet.

Yoga Studio Owner Offends Gays...

A yoga studio in Charlotte, N.C., apologized for repeatedly using the word gay in a disparaging way in Twitter messages and an e-mail to notify patrons that the studio would be closed due to major snowstorms.

"Greetings! I know it sounds gay, but we are definitely less gay across the bored [sic] when compared to CMS, BOA, etc, etc.” the message for Y2 Yoga said, according toFox News in Charlotte. The note also said, “Mainly, I am being gay,” and “Closing completely because of some white stuff is being uber gay!"

Four disclaimers are also included in the message, reading, "Pedophiles be damned or at least contract Ebola and die and [sic] painful and agonizingly slow death."

After receiving criticism that the message was immature and insensitive, studio owner and instructor Tanner Bazemore apologized on Twitter: “@cltblog An apology has been issued to those offended. It is unfortunate my words were misconstrued. Nothing but love for all. Sorry. OM. TB.” He admitted he was drinking wine when he wrote it, and told the Fox affiliate, "I just want to say that there is a difference between Tanner the person and Y2 the yoga studio. I'm deeply sorry for anyone that was offended by my e-mail. While I might be a moron, I'm not a hurtful person."

As a business owner, could someone be more idiotic? Can't wait to see the business he loses. On a human side, how ignorant and insulting. We live in a day and age where you know better than to say things like that. I do not care where you are located. No excuse....

Gym Owner David Barton Sued For Sexual Harassment...

Gym owner David Barton is having a bad couple of months. First, he and wife Susan Bartsch split in December, and now Barton's embroiled in a sexual-harassment lawsuit. Two of his lesbian employees are claiming that they were harassed on the job because of their sexual orientation — and that Barton was often the one leading the charge. Deborah Cooke and Christina Rodino say that Barton made inappropriate gay jokes about the two of them: He allegedly entered Cooke's name in his phone as "Dyke Cooke," and once reportedly asked her if she was "going to strap on a penis tonight."

Barton — or Barton's lawyer, anyway — denies the accusations. The gym claims it terminated the pair because they were taking on outside client work. Cooke and Rodino say that other gym trainers were doing the same thing but were not reprimanded.

Woman Shoots Husband's Penis...

A Kansas City woman was arrested Monday night, accused of shooting her husband in the genitals with his handgun.

When police officers arrived at 1130 E. 76th Terrace, a witness told police she heard the couple arguing in the kitchen, with the wife telling her husband, "If you don't give me my card, I will shoot you." A short time later, the witness said she heard a gunshot and called the police.

When officers arrived, the victim, 50, told them he had been shot in his penis. The man said he was showing his gun off to his wife, 42, in their bedroom and showing her how to use the safety. In practicing with the gun, the man said his wife accidentally shot the gun and shot him in his genitals. The victim said he was preparing to drive himself to the hospital when police arrived.

Police said they found a small amount of blood on the floor and found the handgun used in the shooting along with a shell casing. Police also found a shotgun in the closet of the bedroom.

Police said they had observed the man's injuries and arrested his wife on suspicion of aggravated assault. The man's condition has not been released.

The Icelandic Penis Museum has penises of every species of living thing that has a penis except for a human. Hjartarson told the local media he has long waited for a full human specimen.

Just in case the Arason deal doesn't work out, the curator has three other donation pledges for a human specimen.

Hjartarson is founder and owner of the Icelandic Phallological Museum, which offers visitors from around the world a close-up look at the long and the short of the male reproductive organ.

His collection, which began in 1974 with a single bull's penis that looked something like a riding crop, now boasts 261 preserved members from 90 species.

A German, an American, an Icelander and a Briton had promised to donate their organs after death, according to certificates on display at the museum.

The American, 52-year-old Stan Underwood, supplied a written description of his penis -- which he purportedly nick-named "Elmo" -- for display alongside a life-size plastic mould of the member as well as his pledge to donate it.

First Gay Museum Opens In Castro...

SAN FRANCISCO -- The nation's first gay museum opening in San Francisco's Castro district showcases a variety of items ranging from Harvey Milk's pink-framed sunglasses to manuscripts and sex toys.

The 1,600-square-foot museum, opening Wednesday, chronicles the evolution of what organizers call the liberation of the gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Milk's sunglasses displayed in the GLBT History Museum are a tribute to the late San Francisco supervisor, who was the first elected openly gay politician in California.

GLBT Historical Society executive director Paul Boneberg told the San Francisco Chronicle the society has a five-year lease for a formerly empty storefront.

The society is relying on donations and volunteers to keep the museum open.

Droid X....

I have been a longtime Verizon customer. Their service is absolutely perfect. I live in LA but am often home in Connecticut and the service never wavers. It rules in New York also. My phone of choice has always been LG's latest model, love LG. But i had been urning for an iPhone but because of the suck ass At&t service i gave that thought a simple Hell To The No! My ex got the Droid a few months ago so i have been playing with it and liked it a lot. Even though i knew that the iPhone was debuting on the most reliable network in the world next month, I decided to go with the Droid X and i LOVE it....Truthfully most smart fones are pretty much similar. What i like about the droid is that you can at 32 gigs of memory, not so with the iPhone. What i will need that memory for, i have no idea! But it's nice to have...Anyway if you are in the market for a smart phone, check out the Droid X it is a great phone.

Boy Scouts Want Perversion Files Kept Locked UP....

An attorney for the Boy Scouts of America told the Oregon Supreme Court on Tuesday that 20 years worth of so-called "perversion files" should be kept secret despite a trial judge’s order to open them.

Robert Aldisert said in oral arguments that a Multnomah County judge abused his discretion when he ruled to open the files.

That launched an exchange between Aldisert and Justice Robert D. Durham, who questioned whether there was a "logical stopping point" to Aldisert’s argument that the judge overstepped his bounds.

"Where is the line?" Durham said. Aldisert said the answer was to treat every case individually.

Multnomah County Circuit Judge John Wittmayer had ruled the Boy Scouts’ ineligible volunteer files, from 1965 to 1985, could be used in court, and in June, he ruled that they should be opened to the public. The Boy Scouts of America appealed and the files have remained sealed pending the legal review.

The files keep track of suspected pedophiles and others who violate the Boy Scouts of America’s rules in an effort to keep them from volunteering again.

The circuit court said 1,247 files could be released, of which more than 1,000 involve allegations of child abuse. The only other time the documents are believed to have been presented at a trial was in the 1980s in Virginia.

Westboro Baptists Banned From Funerals Of AZ Shooting Victims...

Arizona governor Jan Brewer signed an emergency law passed to prevent picketing from the Westboro Baptist Church at the funeral of a 9-year-old girl killed Saturday in the Tucson shooting rampage that left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords critically wounded.

According to ABC 15, the Arizona house and senate unanimously passed the law in response to plans from the antigay church based in Topeka, Kan. to protest the funerals of the shooting victims. The law prohibits protests within 300 feet or a funeral or burial service.

The Westboro Baptist Church regularly protests the military funerals of soldiers killed in the line of duty, claiming that their deaths are God's punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality. Other states have passed laws to ban the funeral protests.

The bill was sponsored in the Arizona senate by out bisexual legislator Krysten Sinema.

Chick-Fil-A CEO Tries To Save Face...

Chick-Fil-A President Dan Cathy says its company's donation to an anti-gay marriage group is not an endorsement of its values. Really? Then why was there no mention of support for gay marriage also in his statement, which you can watch below. Cathy makes a point to mention his parents 60 plus year marriage and that Chick has been a long supporter of marriage. Bu what i noticed most about his statement, is that he called the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which is a notorious anti-gay/marriage group's event as an "event" to strengthen marriages. Hmmm, does that include gay marriages? Are gay couples welcome? The answer is NO.

Dan Cathy is a very religious southern Baptist and the company is deep into "Christian" values, need i say more. Chick has supported anti-gay groups before, you can find it all over the internet.

Cathy says that Chick serves all people and values all people. Yes they serve all people for their money and value all people but not those people's VALUES...

Lastly, since Chick provides food to events, then let's take them to task. June is gay pride month, so i expect to see Chick-Fil-A's all over the country supply food and having booth set up in all the gay prides across the country...And like i said before, if Pennsylvania Family Inst. was anti-black, you can bet your ass the company would not be supplying any food to them. Would they supply a KKK rally with their food??

After gay website GoodAsYou.org blogged about the chicken restaurant's sponsorship of a marriage seminar closely associated with the anti-gay marriage group Pennsylvania Family Institute, the group scrubbed Chick-Fil-A's participation off the website promoting the one-day event.

“Heartfelt hospitality is at the core of Chick-Fil-A,” Cathy says in the two-minute-twenty-seven-second video message.

“Some recent events have called into question the principles of Chick-Fil-A and speak directly to the heart of our organization.”

“Last week, one of our local franchise Chick-Fil-A operators in Pennsylvania made the decision to provide food to two upcoming February events billed to strengthen marriages. Marriage has long been a focus of Chick-Fil-A, starting with my own mom and dad, who are celebrating their sixty-third year of marriage.”

“In this case, the operator simply agreed to provide sandwiches and brownies for the events, as many Chick-Fil-A franchisees have done over the years.

Maryland In Process of Expanding Gay Rights....

Maryland is poised to become the sixth state to recognize same-sex marriage as proponents say they believe they have enough support to pass such a measure in the upcoming legislative session.

The expansion of gay rights appears to have gained significant traction as Maryland's General Assembly begins its 90-day session Wednesday. Not only are Democrats optimistic about their chances of approving same-sex marriage, but a leading Republican, sensing momentum on the issue, has instead countered with a proposal to grant civil unions to gay couples.

Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley has publicly stated that he would sign a marriage bill into law. Maryland then would join Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, New Hampshire, Vermont and Washington, D.C., in sanctioning same-sex marriages.

National Gay Group Endorses Anti-Gay Atiku Abubakar For President Of Nigeria...

National Gay Forum, a homosexual group, has endorsed former vice president, Atiku Abubakar's bid to become the president of Nigeria.

At a press conference in Abuja, a spokesperson for the group potrayed Atiku Abubakar as “committed to turning the fortunes of the country around for the better” and said “In view of the meaningful contributions of Atiku to national development, it has become imperative for PDP delegates to cast their votes for him at tomorrow’s party primary election as well as in the April elections."

A spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation reacting to the group's endorsment said, "Honestly, we don’t want to get involved in this kind of story" However, we believe that lesbianism and sodomy are unlawful acts in this country, so we are surprised that law and order have so broken down in this country that gays will organise freely, address the press and the police did not arrest them.

Law and order has broken down completely and the next thing we will be hearing now is that of armed robbers and the kidnappers that will organise — then bombers will also organise their press conference tomorrow. So one, we detest this kind of journalism; two, we say this is an illegal society organising freely in this country. Then that tells us the kind of government that we have.”

Jamaica The Most Homophobic Place On Earth...

Jamaica has been described by human-rights groups as the most homophobic place on earth due to the hate speech and bias motivated crimes often directed at LGBT people. (A)

In late July 2008, a poll was conducted amongst various Jamaicans that read "Whether or not you agree with their "lifestyle," do you think homosexuals are entitled to the same basic rights and privileges as other people in Jamaica?" Of the respondents, only 26% said "yes," with 70% saying "no" and 4% undecided.

Jamaican criminal code prohibits sex between men, as is the case in much of the English-speaking Caribbean. Article 76 of the Offences Against the Person Act states:

Whosoever shall be convicted of the abominable crime of buggery, committed either with mankind or with any animal, shall be liable to be imprisoned and kept to hard labour for a term not exceeding ten years.

Article 77 adds:

Whosoever shall attempt to commit the said abominable crime, or shall be guilty of any assault with intent to commit the same, or of any indecent assault upon any male person, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and being convicted thereof, shall be liable to be imprisoned for a term not exceeding seven years, with or without hard labour.

Article 79 further states:

Any male person who, in public or private, commits, or is a party to the commission of, or procures or attempts to procure the commission by any male person of, any act of gross indecency with another male person, shall be guilty of a misdemeanour, and being convicted thereof shall be liable at the discretion of the court to be imprisoned for a term not exceeding two years, with or without hard labour.

"Gross indecency" is not defined, but has been interpreted to include male homosexual conduct between consenting adults in private.^[4]

According to the Human Rights Activist Peter Tatchell, homophobia is not authentic Jamaican culture. It was imposed on the people of Jamaica in the nineteenth century by British colonisers and their Christian missionary allies.^[5]
