James “Lucie” Parkin was fatally shot in the back as she lay facedown on the floor of a motel room Sept. 20 by an acquaintance who wanted to collect a debt, according to a police report.
Miguel Inostroz, who is scheduled to enter a plea at the Hayward Hall of Justice on Nov. 9, was already in Room 127 at the La Quinta Inn on Hesperian Boulevard near A Street when Parkin showed up shortly before 6 p.m., according to the report. At least five other acquaintances were in the room when Inostroz confronted Parkin over money she owed him, police said.
The report said that Parkin — a pre-op transgender man who wanted to be referred to as a woman — tried to hand over some cash, but Inostroz pulled out a pistol and struck her on the head, causing a large laceration and sending her tumbling to the ground.
