Cindy McCain, Flips On DADT...

Where does Cindy McCain stand on repeal of "don't ask, don't tell?"

After starring in a new NoH8 video condemning the policy, the wife of Republican senator John McCain tweeted Friday: "I fully support the NOH8 campaign and all it stands for and am proud to be a part of it. But I stand by my husband's stance on DADT."

Well that sucks....

Love Mike Gronstal!!!

The top Democrat in the state Senate said Friday he would make sure the Legislature didn't refer a proposed constitutional amendment to voters that would ban gay marriage.

Senate Majority Michael Gronstal said he'd stand by his promise to block any Senate debate on an amendment despite plans by Republicans to move such a measure through the House soon after the Legislature convenes Jan. 10.

"I don't think I've really wavered on that subject," said Gronstal, of Council Bluffs. "I'm not going to write discrimination into the constitution."

Breaking: Supreme Court Denies Log Cabin...

The U.S. Supreme Court voted Friday to keep to the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy intact, rejecting a request by the Log Cabin Republicans that the court reinstate an injunction on the policy pending appeal. The court order was short and to the point, noting that Justice Anthony Kennedy referred the appeal to the full Supreme Court and further advising that Justice Elena Kagan, who had dealt with the policy as U.S. solicitor general, had not taken part in the deliberations.

“The application to vacate the stay entered by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on November 1, 2010, presented to Justice Kennedy and by him referred to the Court is denied. Justice Kagan took no part in the consideration or decision of this application,” read the order from the Supreme Court.

The request by Log Cabin was always considered a long shot, but the group's lawyers had hoped to convince the court to suspend enforcement of the policy while the appeals process plays out. Government lawyers are presently appealing a September decision that found the law unconstitutional to the ninth circuit court of appeals.

Log Cabin Lawyers File Response To DOJ...

The legal jockeying continued Friday in the case of Log Cabin Republicans v. U.S.A.when the lawyers for Log Cabin filed a response to the government’s request earlier this week that the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy be kept in place pending appeal.

“We have sought and received permission from the U.S. Supreme Court to file this reply because the government’s opposition ignores critical points presented in our application to vacate the stay of the ninth circuit court of appeals,” said Dan Woods, White & Case partner who is representing Log Cabin Republicans.

Last week, Log Cabin lawyers took the unusual step of appealing to Justice Anthony Kennedy to lift a ninth circuit court ruling that placed a stay on a worldwide injunction on the policy originally ordered by federal district court judge Virginia Phillips in September. Justice Kennedy can either make an individual ruling on the request or refer it to the entire Supreme Court.

Government lawyers filed their response to that appeal Wednesday, but Woods has now gone the extra step of countering the filing from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Woods said he requested the opportunity to reply because he felt the government’s argument had failed on several key points: It did not address the fact that legislative repeal of the law is still “speculative,” it does not properly consider the “hardships to current and prospective servicemembers” if enforcement of DADT continues, and it “exaggerates” what the district court’s injunction does and does not require.

Pat Sajak Wtf?

I am not a game show fan. I have no interest in them. But that is besides the point, don't even ask my why i put that in there. However Pat Sajak has become a little nasty about Keith Olbermann. Apparently conservative re-puke-lican Sajak must not like the fact that Keith donated to the democrats because he unleashed some bitchy queeny shitz...lol I'm one to talk right? Read below...But what i find funny about the whole thing, is that The only thing Olbermann did was donate, he did not make a statement about donating or make negative comments about republicans, so I do not really understand Sajak's beef...

'Wheel of Fortune' host Pat Sajak may not seem like much of a troublemaker, but the TV personality certainly has some choice words for Keith Olbermann. Sajak, a steadfast conservative, took to his Ricochet blog this week to apologize to the entire country for featuring the cable host on his short-lived talk show in 1989.

In a post titled 'Mea Culpa,' Sajak writes of the recently reinstated MSNBC star, "I was the person who introduced Keith Olbermann to America ... I'm not sure how he morphed into the bitter-sounding, hate-mongering name-caller he's become, but I'm sorry he did."

Sajak, who hosted Olbermann, then a sportscaster, on 'The Pat Sajak Show,' continued his tirade, saying, "I do know that to whatever extent the political well has been poisoned, Keith has dumped more than his share of venom into the water. I'd like to think he knows that and maybe even regrets it. I liked the Keith Olbermann of 1989."

Olbermann responded to Sajak's criticism via Twitter, calling Sajak's statements "bulls**t."

"Pat Sajak did not introduce me to America. I started on CNN the same year he started on 'Wheel,'" he writes. "I think if he needs to apologize for anything it needs to be that talk show. When he was canceled, he was replaced by a crime-and-skin series called 'Silk Stalkings,' for God's sake."

Cindy McCain Rocks...

John McCain is doing everything he can to keep Don't ask Don't Tell in place, even though the majority of America and our troops believe the policy should be abolished. I love how his wife Cindy is doing the complete opposite of her husband. Miz Cindy as joined a NOH8 video against bullying and she knocks DADT. Watch it below. Cindy was also very vocal opponent of Prop 8. By the way she looks really good in the video. I did not know it was her at first. The short hair looks great on her.

Happy Friday!!!

Have a great weekend!!!

One More Day...

Focus On The Family Steps Up Their Anti-Gay Agenda...

I have posted about FOTF many times, or as I believe they should be called Focus On The Freaks. They do nothing but spread LIES and miss lead young people down dangerous, destructive paths about homosexuality and they KNOW it. Here is there latest scheme.

Focus on the Family announced today it will take over sponsorship of an annual student-led event against homosexuality.

The event is called the Day of Dialogue, formerly known as the Day of Truth.

“We want to offer students the facts (about homosexuality) to engage a dialogue in schools,” Focus spokesman Gary Schneeberger said.

Focus today launched the website Dayoftruth.com, a resource for students interested in being part of the homosexual protest next April.

“The Day of Dialogue gives you, as a student, the opportunity to express the true model presented by Jesus Christ in the Bible (on homosexuality),” the website says.

For years the protest was held by school students as a rebuke to the Day of Silence, supported by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) to foster gay tolerance.

On Oct. 6, Exodus International, an Orlando, Fla.-based coalition of ministries that sponsors seminars on helping gay people become heterosexual, announced it would no longer sponsor the Day of Truth because of the rash of gay bullying.

In September, five gay students took their lives reportedly due to repeated bullying.

Focus resurrected the anti-gay program to balance the dialogue on homosexuality in schools, Candi Cushman, Focus education analyst, said in a news release.

“We’re trying to raise awareness that more than one side needs to be heard on the issue of homosexuality, and we’re helping to ensure that Christian students have the chance to express their viewpoint,” Cushman said.

Focus recommends that students at least be of high school age to participate.

GLSEN spokesman Daryl Presgraves said today Focus’ decision is a setback to mitigating gay bullying in colleges and schools.

“Focus supports a destructive and divisive message that is inappropriate for young people,” Presgraves said.

Gay Couple Marries In Dallas Texas??

Hold on to your panties there is a twist!

Each year countless gay and lesbian couples travel from Texas to places where same-sex marriage is legal to tie the knot.

But Mark Reed hopes same-sex couples in Texas will soon be able to conveniently — and legally — marry without even leaving the state.

Reed, a board member for the national LGBT direct action group GetEQUAL, recently married his longtime partner, Dante Walkup, at the W Dallas Victory hotel.

Their “Skype” wedding was officiated via teleconference from Washington, D.C., where same-sex marriage is legal, and they received their license in the mail a short time later.

It’s called “e-marriage,” and it’s a sort of high-tech version of the proxy wedding traditionally held when one of the parties can’t be physically present — because, for example, they’re in the military stationed overseas.

“The reason we wanted to do it this way is because we wanted to have a wedding here in Dallas with our family and friends,” Reed said. “It was very important that all of our family came. It was the first time they actually met, even though we’ve been together 10 years. If we had to go to D.C., there’s no way we could have had the people there who we wanted to be there.”

Reed and Walkup, co-owners of WDM Lighting on Oak Lawn Avenue, were married in a conference room at the W hotel on Oct. 10, in front of about 80 people with a 6-by-8-foot screen looming behind them.

Wow never have thought of this...Very interesting marrying through the web...

Veterans Day...

Deepest gratitude to all service members, gay and straight, who are still here with us and those we have lost. You have protected our country, our freedom and our lives since it's beginning.
We are truly grateful.
 This is your day....

Amazon Pulls Pedophilia How To Book...

An e-book that was for sale on Amazon.com that appeared to defend pedophilia has sparked hundreds of angry user comments and threats to boycott the online retailer unless it pulled the title.

A listing for "The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure: A Child-Lover's Code of Conduct" was no longer available on Amazon.com late Wednesday.

Before then, more than 2,000 users had commented on the title. The lion's share deplored its publication and vowed to boycott Amazon until it removed the self-published title from the site, and at least two Facebook pages have been dedicated to boycotting Amazon because of the book.

The stated content appears to violate two of Amazon's content guidelines for digital publication.

The author of the controversial tome said he publised it to address what he considers unfair portrayals of pedophiles in the media.

"True pedophiles love children and would never hurt them," Phillip R. Greaves II said in a phone interview with CNN on Wednesday.

When asked if the self-published e-book was a "how-to manual," he said, "there are certain parts that are advisory," which set out lines that should not be crossed.

"Penetration is out. You can't do that with a child, but kissing and fondling I don't think is that big of a problem," he said.

Ok what i would like to know is how a book like this would even make it on to Amazons sale list? Who in Amazon would approve this book to be available for sale? I mean did they miss something in the title? Disgusting that a book like this even gets published. And I don't even want to hear a word about free speech in this case.

Further more Phillip Greaves is a SCUMBAG! Enough said.

Researchers Say Night Owls Are Smarter Than Day Trippers...

I knew my vampire ways were not for naught...

Are you the type who stays up late to finish your work, or do you get up early to make a fresh start on the day? If it's the former, you may be pleased to learn new research has found that those with higher IQs tend to be nocturnal night-owls. But if it's the latter, you might have good reason to distrust the claim. Here's an instant guide:

Is there solid science behind this finding?

Sleep researchers tend to divide people into two groups, explains zoologist Robert Alison in the Winnipeg Free Press, based on whether they exhibit "morningness" or "eveningness." A recent study claims that eveningness is an evolutionary advancement that marks out "more intelligent individuals," while "those with lower IQs tend to restrict their activities primarily to daytime."

How can that be?

Researchers from the London School of Economics say that human beings used to all be day-oriented, and that eveningness is an "evolutionarily novel preference" made by people with "a higher level of cognitive complexity." Basically, smart people evolve to stay up later.

Montana AG Steve Bullock Sucks!

Montana attorney general Steve Bullock has asked a judge to dismiss a lawsuit from seven same-sex couples seeking the same rights as married couples in the state.

According to theAssociated Press, Bullock filed a motion to dismiss the case, arguing that the court does not have the authority to compel the state to extend spousal benefits beyond marriages between a man and a woman.

"Spousal benefits are limited by definition to married couples, and the Montana constitution defines marriage as being between a man and a woman, Attorney General Steve Bullock said," the AP reported.

District judge Jeffrey Sherlock has set a hearing on the motion to dismiss the case for January 25. The ACLU, which is representing the seven couples, plans to respond to the motion to dismiss by December 10. If Judge Sherlock allows the case to proceed, a trial date has been set for June 27.

Pentagon Study Shows DADT Is A Dead...

Additional leaked details of the Pentagon study on lifting the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy provide more support to the conclusion that the risks associated with ending the discriminatory policy would be minimal.

According to The Washington Post, “More than 70 percent of respondents to a survey sent to active-duty and reserve troops over the summer said the effect of repealing the ‘don't ask, don't tell’ policy would be positive, mixed or nonexistent, said two sources familiar with the document. The survey results led the report's authors to conclude that objections to openly gay colleagues would drop once troops were able to live and serve alongside them.”

Previously, NBC News reported that the survey showed that the majority of troops would not mind serving alongside an openly gay or lesbian service member.

Now what do you have to say McCain??

Colorado Senator Republican Kent Lambert Is An Ignorant Idiot...

Dumb, ass-backwards thinking people never cease to amaze me...

A newly elected Colorado state senator who frowns on homosexuality as a "chosen behavior" will be serving on a committee with two gay members.

The Denver Post reported Wednesday Colorado Springs Republican Kent Lambert 's religion-based views on homosexuality came to the forefront when he sent a tweet last month commenting on remarks made last year by Democratic gubernatorial candidate John Hickenlooper that there was some "backwards thinking" in Colorado toward gays.

"Hickenlooper actually calls rural Coloradans 'backward-thinking,' unlike the homosexuals in Denver," Lambert tweeted.

He told the Post Hickenlooper compared "people in rural Colorado to terrorists and murderers because of the homosexual up in Wyoming that was assaulted."

Now Lambert will find himself on the Joint Budget Committee with Rep. Mark Ferrandino and Sen. Pat Steadman, two gay Democrats from Denver.

"I don't really care too much what they do," Lambert said of his colleagues. "I think that's a chosen behavior they have that I don't agree with."

Ferrandino took exception to that characterization.

"I think most science has shown conclusively it's not a choice," Ferrandino said. "It's biological. When people further that fake science that it's a choice, it gives other people a right to discriminate."

Steadman said Lambert's comment was a matter of opinion.

"I am who I am," Steadman said. "When did he choose to be straight?"

German Footballer Tells Gay Players To Come Out...

A top- soccer player stuck the boot into homophobia on Wednesday when he urged gay colleagues to come out of the closet, Die Zeit reported.

Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez , 25 -- a major star of international and club soccer -- said homosexuality was treated as a "taboo topic" in mens' sports.

No active professional has ever come out publicly in Germany, a trend mirrored across the soccer world that Gomez urged his fellow players to buck.

"They would then play as though they'd been unshackled," Gomez told German celebrity magazine Bunte.

Die Ziet said it was an open secret that there were homosexual footballers in the country's premier soccer league, the Bundesliga.

"We have a gay Vice-Chancellor, Berlin's mayor is gay ... professional football players should commit to their inclination," Gomez said, referring to openly gay lawmakers Guido Westerwelle and Klaus Wowereit.

Gomez, a former German soccer player of the year who has scored 14 goals in 44 games for his country, is probably the most high-profile player to address the issue to date.

Mexico Moving Quick Toward Equality...

Now if only the U.S. would move as fast. :)

MEXICO CITY -- Mexico's House of Representatives has voted to amend social security rules to include medical and social benefits for same-sex couples.

The vote Tuesday was 232 in favor and 58 against. The measure now goes to the Senate for debate.

The amendment deals with the Social Security Institute, which provides benefits to employees of private companies, and with a benefits program for government employees.

The vote comes amid a debate among Mexicans over gay marriage that intensified after Mexico City's local legislature enacted a law last December allowing same-sex couples in the capital to marry and adopt children."

Authorities Search For Body Of Missing Gay Teen...

I first heard about this story on Wickedgayblog. So sad. Then i did a little internet search and found the rest of the story. I am not saying anything against hooking up online, i have met boyfriends that way, but be careful when doing so, there are a lot of crazies out there. I feel bad for this kid and his family....

LOUISVILLE, KY (WDRB Fox 41) -- The man accused of killing a Sullivan University student faced a judge Wednesday morning. At the same time, detectives continued combing a southern Indiana landfill for Andrew Compton's body.

Authorities have brought in fifty police recruits to help with the search, which began about 11:30 Tuesday morning and continued Wednesday. They are using a backhoe to sift through the garbage, and believe Compton's body is in a television box.

Officials at the landfill say they can keep track of when trash comes in and where it came from, which would allow them to narrow their search to trash that arrived from Louisville on a particular date.

Police say they found evidence Tuesday that tells them they are searching in the right location.

Gregory O'Bryan appeared in court on Wednesday, charged with murder, evidence tampering, and abuse of a corpse.

Click HERE to read a previous story on Compton.

Hundreds of students, friends and family members turned out Tuesday night for a vigil for Compton.

Many of those who gathered held candles, sang songs, and shared thoughts and stories about Compton, who some students described as "quiet" and a person "they will miss."

The gathering was a stark contrast to violent nature of his death.

Gregory O'Bryan, the man who met a Sullivan University student online, has confessed to having sex with the student and disposing of his body, according to an arrest report.

Homicide detectives arrested 40-year old O'Byran early Tuesday at his apartment on Lucia Avenue. He was charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse.

Court records show O'Bryan told detectives that Compton died while the two had sex and that he continued to have sex with the body and later disposed of it.

Investigators believe Andrew Compton's body was placed in a cardboard television box and thrown out more than a week ago. Homicide detectives spent several hours Tuesday combing through a landfill in Medora, Indiana. They found nothing and will resume their search Wednesday.

Gates Pushes DADT Repeal...

Passing legislation would give the Pentagon far more control over implementation than the quick and decisive stroke of a judge’s pen.

This reasoning is being pushed by none other than Secretary of Defense Robert Gates, who told ABC’s Cynthia McFadden in a Tuesday segment that he believed the demise of the policy was “inevitable.”

“The question is whether it is done by legislation that allows us to do it in a thoughtful and careful way, or whether it is struck down by the courts. Because recent court decisions are certainly pointing in that direction,” he explained, in some of his most expansive remarks on the subject to date.

Gates is making a good argument for the repeal of DADT. Now lets see if the dumb ass republicans i.e. John McCain and the Dems that voted against the repeal will have the brains to listen to him...

Lesbian Fired Because Of Wedding Announcement...

It wasn’t that she and her life partner, Kae Helstrom, went to Iowa this summer to be married, after a 2009 Iowa Supreme Court ruling opened the door to gay marriages in that state. Her employer knew the marriage was happening, too, she said.
But when Helstrom’s and Tadlock’s wedding announcement was published in The State Journal-Register, it was the beginning of the end for Tadlock’s tenure as director of the education program at Benedictine.
Tadlock left the program Oct. 28. The university says Tadlock resigned. Tadlock says she didn’t.
The wedding announcement, which included Tadlock’s position at Benedictine, a Catholic-sponsored university, appeared in the newspaper July 11.
In a Sept. 30 letter to Tadlock’s attorney, Benedictine President William Carroll wrote, “… By publicizing the marriage ceremony in which she participated in Iowa she has significantly disregarded and flouted core religious beliefs which, as a Catholic institution, it is our mission to uphold.”

2 Indicted In Stone Wall Attack...

Two men were accused of attacking a man in the bathroom of the Stonewall Inn, an iconic gay bar in downtown Manhattan, on October 3, according to a release from the New York district attorney's office.

Matthew Francis, 21, and Christopher Orlando, 17, both from Staten Island, were charged with two counts of attempted robbery as a hate crime and one count of assault as a hate crime. In addition, Francis was charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon.

A 34-year old victim, whose name is not being released, was at a urinal inside the bar when one of the defendants allegedly asked him whether he was gay, according a news release from the district attorney's office. When the victim responded yes, Matthew Francis, 21, allegedly yelled, "Get away from me f----t. I don't like gay people." He then asked for money, saying, "Give me a dollar. Give me a 20," according to the news release.

The victim refused and Francis allegedly push him to ground and punched him several times in the face and chest.

The other defendant Christopher Orlando, 17, stood in front of the exit preventing him from leaving, the district attorney's office said.

Bar patrons and staff members chased the suspects outside, where they were arrested by police officers who had been called to the scene. The victim suffered "substantial pain and a laceration to the head" and had to be treated at a hospital, the district attorney's office said.

More Hate On Wisconsin Campus...

WHITEWATER, Wis. — Police in Whitewater are investigating another possible hate crime on the university campus.

Authorities said Tuesday a freshman student walking on the north side of campus last weekend was shoved by a man and called gay.

The report follows another recent incident in which a woman was punched in the face on campus while wearing a T-shirt that said 'Legalize gay.'

The State Journal reports police do not believe the two assaults are linked."

Gay couple banned from school dance...

A 16-year-old girl has claimed discrimination after her private Australian school banned her lesbian partner from the ball - and told her to bring a man instead.

Hannah Williams, a student at Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar, an independent Anglican school in Melbourne, complained to the Equal Opportunities Commission after she was told not to bring her 15-year-old girlfriend, Savannah Supski, to the dinner dance.

Miss Williams boycotted the event and told the Age newspaper: 'It made me very upset. I thought it was unfair, so I didn't go'.

Miss Supski said: 'It was a homophobic issue and I feel extremely discriminated against'.

The school insisted yesterday that the ban was imposed because of age, not sexual orientation, but Miss Williams said her classmates had taken younger males to the ball."

New Documentary On Gay Baseball Player Glenn Burke...

Glenn Burke was the first openly gay baseball player. Although the public did not know it at the time, every one in baseball did. The treatment that he received was from his peers and coaches was less than supportive.

This week in San Francisco -- while World Series euphoria is still flowing in the streets -- baseball's darker side is being explored. A revealing documentary produced by the local Comcast affiliate -- Out: the Glenn Burke Story --premieres Wednesday on both the cable sports channel and at the Castro Theater in San Francisco's iconic gay neighborhood, the Castro.

Glenn Burke was one of the great high school athletes to come out of the Bay Area in the 1970s. He was a top prospect for the Los Angeles Dodgers, a starter in the 1977 World Series, a player for his hometown Oakland A's.

And he was openly gay.

The documentary is a stark look at the last taboo in professional male team sports.

But 33 years after Burke led an openly gay lifestyle on the L.A. Dodgers, no active player on a professional men's sports team has come out.

"I hope that at least we can provoke some discussion," said the film's executive producer Ted Griggs, who is also the general manager of Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.

Teacher Gets Fired For Teaching Anti-Bullying...WTF?

Dave Dixon was fired from his job as a high school drama teacher after a lesson on bullying

The Haralson County school board terminated teacher Dave Dixon last night after Dixon showed a short clip from the film “The Reckoning” during a lesson on bullying. Dixon, who taught drama at Haralson County High School, said recent LGBT-youth suicides provided an opportunity for a “teachable moment.”

Haralson County High School is located on Ga. Highway 120 in Tallapoosa, Ga.

“The Reckoning,” a short film starring Bruce Hart, centers on Tom Shepard, a character who is gay-bashed after his public display of pride. Hart is a personal friend of Dixon who Dixon described as “the sweetest man you’ll ever meet.”

“The Reckoning” is loosely based on the story of Matthew Shepard, according to the website IMDB.

Drama teacher David Dixon was fired after showing a clip from the short film "The Reckoning" during a lesson on bullying (via Facebook)

Dixon said he showed a clip from the film to his class, but after a scene with obscene language, he quickly turned off the video and apologized to his class.

In the scene in question, one of the characters asks another, “Do you suck cock?”

“A female student complained to her mother,” Dixon said. “If this movie was not about gay rights, this wouldn’t have come up.”

“I’ve never felt so bullied,” he said. “My purpose was to try to prevent it.”

Here, a teacher is trying to speak out against bullying and he gets fired. It is unfortunate that the "do you suck cock?" line was heard, but by mistake I'm sure and to get fired for that? And please, what high school kid has not heard that term before?  Can we get a grip here?

Did You Watch glee??

Loved glee tonight! The rendition of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream was simply AWESOME! Then of course the turn about with Kurt's bully was unexpected...I won't ruin it for those who have it in their DVR's. What a fun show!

Obama Had Gay Nanny...

Now we know why he's down with the gays!

With Obama visiting Jakarta this week, The New York Times has published a story that explores the history of the President’s time spent there.

Obama lived in Jakarta between 1967 and 1971, in a humble neighborhood called Matraman-Dalam. According to the Times, for two years, Obama, or Barry, as local residents affectionately termed him, had an openly gay man as his nanny.

Longtime residents shared that his nanny conducted an affair with a local butcher back then and he also joined a transvestite troupe called Fantastic Dolls. The troupe often danced and played volleyball on Jakarta’s streets, and transvestites continue to entertain the public in this manner today.

Slamet Januadi, now 52, was Obama’s neighbor and often played with him inside the compound they lived in. He recalled that Obama once asked a group of boys whether they wanted to be a president, a soldier or a businessman when they grew up. A president would have nothing while a soldier would have weapons and a businessman would have money, said a young Obama.

“Barry said he would become president and order the soldier to guard him and the businessman to use his money to build him something,” Mr. Januadi said.

Pee On Your Cell Phone And It Will Tell You IF You Have Syphilis...

What will they come up with next? Technology is unreal...

A research project in Europe aims to let people self-diagnose sexually transmitted diseases like HIV and syphilis by using their mobile phones.

But don't worry. You won't have to pee or spit on your phone, despite what the tech blogs are saying about these efforts.

The "eSTI2" project, managed by Tariq Sadiq from St George's University of London, England, recently received a $6.5 million grant to develop small chips that can be used to used to test saliva, urine or blood for sexually transmitted diseases. The chips -- which, yes, you would need to pee on in some cases -- would connect to mobile phones for processing.

It's possible that a smartphone app would be able to tell a person if they'd tested positive or negative for a particular STD in 5 to 15 minutes, Sadiq said.

Betty White The New Smokey The Bear...

Betty White has had countless roles over her award-winning career, but now she has a gig she's always wanted: "Forest Ranger."

The actress known for her roles on "The Golden Girls" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" was made an honorary ranger Tuesday by the U.S. Forest Service. White, 88, said that as a young girl she wanted to be a forest ranger, but women weren't allowed to have the job.

On Tuesday, the Forest Service presented her with a badge and a ranger's Stetson hat, which she donned during a ceremony at the Kennedy Center. When Smokey Bear arrived mid-ceremony, White gave him a big bear hug and later asked to take the Forest Service mascot with her. She settled for a toy Smokey with its own small hat.

"Wilderness is harder and harder to find these days on this beautiful planet, and we're abusing our planet to the point of almost no return," White said. "In my heart I've been a forest ranger all my life, but now I'm official."

Love it!
