izz:Although it is true that the general acceptance of gays is wide spread and the majority of people today accept homosexuality, the conservative religious right is waging a war against gays not seen in quite a long time. They know that it is not pc any more to discriminate, the American people are not falling for it. So they guise it under “protecting marriage” however even that is now failing. But the Texas GOP has pulled out all the stops. They have full on come out swinging with a no holds barred crazy ass manifesto essentially declaring war on the Gay community and everything else they believe does not fit in to what the view as their perfect christian world down their in Texas. 

Part of their demands are the criminalization of consensual oral and anal sex. Such a sodomy law, intended to criminalize same-sex sex, was first enacted in Texas in 1860 and the law was overturned as unconstitutional in 2003 in a U.S. Supreme Court ruling.

They want to prosecute any civil officials who presides over same-sex weddings or who issues marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Making it a felony. Punishable by jail time.
 
They want Congress to bar federal courts form dealing with cases involving family law and states that the party is opposed to “mandatory open adoption and adoption by homosexuals,” as well as custody or visitation rights for gays.

GOP are opposed to domestic partnership recognition and benefits, the repeal of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and the establishment of workplace protections based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“We believe that the practice of homosexuality tears at the fabric of society, contributes to the breakdown of the family unit, and leads to the spread of dangerous, communicable diseases,” the platform proclaims.

“Homosexual behavior is contrary to the fundamental, unchanging truths that have been ordained by God, recognized by our country’s founders, and shared by the majority of Texans.

“Homosexuality must not be presented as an acceptable ‘alternative’ lifestyle in our public education and policy, nor should ‘family’ be redefined to include homosexual ‘couples.’”

izz: The HRC has a petition on their site. It is a letter to GOP head Michael Steele calling on him to stop this BULLSHIT now. Go and sign it. Here is the link

Lastly, Texas GOP, i suggest you pull on your shit kickers because queers don’t put up with this bullshit. We come out swinging and come out swing hard. Your bible beating discriminating bigotry is a waste of your time, cause you are loosing every day. Suckas!!!
