Bret Easton Ellis, who uses twitter as the portal for his scathing wrecking ball opinions, has apologized to Oscar wining director Kathryn Bigelow for comments he made claiming she was overrated because she was “a very hot woman.”
In a column for The Daily Beast published Monday, Ellis rehashed his questionable tweets about Bigelow, noting that while he likes to be fun and provocative, his comments were neither.
“It goes beyond douchiness into another more insensitive realm,” wrote Ellis. “Out of all the Bigelow tweets there are only one or two that I can kind of stand by.”
Ellis says that as a gay man, he should have known better.
“As someone who is not a white, male, heterosexual filmmaker, as someone who has felt like an outside for things they couldn’t help — I guess I should have known better.”
Good. Now stop wasting your writing talents on twitter and get back to your next novel, because Annie Wilkes here can not stand the agony of waiting….
