A 25 yr old man last his foot from a Tiger attack at the Bronx Zoo after he jumped off the monorail and into the tigers den according to witnesses.
The man reportedly told his rescuers he jumped because “he wanted to die.”
How sad. That is a brutal way to kill yourself. Hopefully he gets the help he needs…
“It sounds like he had some severe deep cuts to his back and a severe injury to a leg,” said Frank Dwyer, a spokesman for the Fire Department. The man was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where the police said he was in critical condition. The attack happened around 3:25 p.m.
“Our emergency response staff immediately went to the site and used a CO2 fire extinguisher to move the tiger away from the person,” according to Jim Breheny, the director of the Bronx Zoo. After the tiger backed away, the man was told to roll under an electrified wire to safety.
Police confirm he remains in critical condition in the hospital.
