Boo: Logo kicks the gays to the curb for a 6 yr old with a tiara and non-gay programming…Wtf?

LOGO, the LGBT channel has decided to move away from gay orientated shows and focus on reality shows that include one featuring  6 yr old Eden Wood from Toddlers & Tiara’s. Are you kidding me? What adult gay man wants to watch a reality show about a 6 yr old girl? Other shows include some dog show, Housewives meet mob wives and some other crap. 

Here is what G.M. Lisa Sherman has to say about abandoning the gays:

“I don’t think our mission has changed really.  From our research, gay people are living far more integrated lives than before and being gay is an important part of their lives but it’s not what they lead with. So if we’re going to keep to that idea of displaying their lives, we need to reflect that new reality.”

Integrated lives? Seriously? Who is running this place, Marcus Bachmann? Jimmy LaSalvia? Chris Barron?? 

Apparently the brianiacs at Logo believe that we gays think show’s like the A-List are offensive but we watch because we will take whatever we can get. Well truthfully the A-list was not so much offensive as it was embarrassing. For everyone involved and watching. They picked the most vile of our community and scrippted them to portray us as the sterotypes society is use to seeing.

Del Hierro  says“The biggest challenge is to strive for fresh programming without giving in to the temptation to feature stereotypes, [like the] bitchy fashionista,” he says. “A show with regular guys that just happen to be gay would be interesting and reflect the LGBT population.”

But the fact is people don’t turn on the TV to watch regular guys, no matter what network they’re tuning into: The January 30 season premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race attracted nearly a million viewers, making it the highest rated premiere in the network’s history.

And while Drag Race features more than a dozen gay performers every season, its success is due more to its popularity with straight women. “Drag Race is very emblematic of the direction we’re going toward,” says Sherman. “It was clear from early on that it had a larger following than just a core gay audience. It offers a nice balance of campiness and entertainment but also some serious messages about empowerment and diversity.”

Really? You are going to tell me that a million straight women were responsible for the season premiere ratings? Did Gloria Steinem take over this network? In truth she would probably do a better job.

Here’s the gist of it. They are full of shit. Had Logo put in place original gay programming, this would not be happening. If they filled their roster with shows such as Flipping out, It’s a Brad Brad world, Queer eye for the straight guy, Kathy Griffin, Tabitha takes over, Million Dollar Decorator, the gays would be watching like David Beckham having sex in a bathhouse.
