they are not exactly the same, they may be made a little different, but they are made very similar and their functions are primarily the same and they both- in many households across the country- have been used interchangeably. yep… a napkin isn’t exactly the same as a paper towel, but the paper towels are generally stronger, bigger and clean up a bigger mess.
